Meet Wild Thing. He stands over 5 feet tall and is a well loved, much visited, permanent fixture at Dr. Frank Barone's beautiful office in Toledo, OH.
While waiting to see Frank , you can watch the flat screen which simulates an aquarium with salt water fish and coral, sip on green tea while reading the latest publications on heath, beauty, and wellness, or close your eyes in the dimly lit waiting room and enjoy aromatherapy and soothing music.
Or... you can spend some time with Wild Thing!
When Frank asked me to take Wild Thing home and give him a "make-over", I agreed thinking this would be a lot of fun, a deviation from my normal Smucci routine, and relatively easy. Well, it was alot of fun and definitely a break from my routine, but in no way was this easy!!!
Wild Thing does not bend! Expecting that his legs would move just a smidge, I thought I'd plop him onto the front passenger seat of my truck. Just imagine the scene...

his body angled and his head falling repeatedly
towards me all the way home.
At some point I just gave up and let him flop onto my
shoulder. No, really, my vision wasn't obstructed at all! I
couldn't see through my tears! I was laughing so hard...
what the heck, Frank!!
So, finally we arrive. I force Wild Thing out of the truck
and carry him through the front door and into my
kitchen, where he stood for the next week while I
worked on his image makeover....
Ah Hah! I would turn him into "Lawn Man"!!!
Tractor Supply, here I come! All my favorite things!

and push so things would remain where I put them. Wild

ChicExecs from California is an internet based PR group of very enterprising and cutting edge woman who currently represent over 70 clients (including Smucci) who flood the media with explosive advertising. More on their ambitious efforts and retail products, Chic Buds, at a later date. I am participating in Pet Royalty Gift Baskets and am relaxing after a busy week of preparing and sending product to Drew Barrymore, Hillary Duff, Adam Sandler, Jake Gyllenthaal, and Hayden Panatierre. Yeah, really! I loaded my truck with newly designed and hand-made product with the talented assistance of Leigh Bodie, my fabulous seamstress, with "Bales of Smucci Hay" and piles of "Yellow Ginkgo Leaves" for the celebs!
For Drew Barrymore, the gorgeous yellow ginkgo box cushion! Photographed by my son, Jamie, model P-Nut the papillion sits on top of this splendid, hand-made Smucci cushion. The fabric is gorgeous, and the actual leaves from the ginkgo tree my mom and I planted in my backyard supplied us with the inspiration and the image!
When I pulled up to the UPS store in Lambertville, MI and unloaded 10 cushions, which were stuffed into 3 huge boxes shipped to California I must admit I questioned myself... but only for a moment. How lucky am I to have created my own company based upon my innate creativity and completely original product, and to be sending it to celebrities in California?!
The Smucci Bale of Hay for Adam Sandler and Jake Gyllenthaal, complete with "twine" gold rope to hold it together and a Smucci handle to carry it with ease... how fun!
I am in love with my next new product... "Sleeping on a Smucci Beach!" In my recent travels to trade shows in Lexington, KY at The Rolex Equestrian, Detroit Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show, and Columbus Pet Expo, I have been asked repeatedly to design something for crates and larger dogs whose enormous weight and size presents a comfort challenge. Well, I did just that by using a special padding and wrapping it in my famous Smucci Beach fabric. VOILA! The dog that sleeps on a Smucci Beach will NOT feel the floor, and will be rocked to sleep in heavenly comfort! The Smucci Beach Mat is SO COOL!!!!!!!
My backyard, and all the natural elements that inspired me to create my fabrics! The ginkgo leaves from my tree, the sand and seashells from my beach, feathers from my 2 Macaws, and hay from the horse stable down the road... the beauty is all around us in the simplest of forms, and all we have to do is take a moment to notice.
It all began with a simple row boat ride around the lake. My son, Jamie, and his friends Scott, John, Ben, and wonder dog "Buddy" landed on my shores and decided they needed to pursue a quest! Earlier that day, they were traipsing through the woods and spotted an abandoned and very dilapidated paddle boat in need of repair! Although retired to an inconspicuous spot for at least 3 years (as long as I have lived here), it has been pulled from the woods and resurrected to a full blown "chariot!" Pulled behind a 4 wheeler through dense foliage at high speeds, it is home made fun at it's best!!! And Buddy, the rescued Cocker Spaniel mix, is right there with the boys... enjoying every minute of adventure, fun, and silliness!! This dog ROCKS!!!
First, the paddle boat was assessed for durability and sturdiness as parts were deleted, altered or bludgeoned in order to refine this mess into a fabulous chariot. Final plans were made over dinner (cat Marcus was the centerpiece on the table, enjoying a cat nap in a Smucci original cat bowl bed!)
Here are the results...
It is LOUD when Scott pulls Jamie, seated in the "chariot," with his 4 wheeler on my gravel driveway. This really sounds as though a train is running through my property... an absolute riot!! I am surprised, and delighted, that my neighbors haven't executed me!
Yes, Wi Fi at Burger King is quite helpful. Located 6 miles from my house, it's the best internet connection I can get right now. Since I live in a forest, actually 90 acres of
dense foliage which surrounds my home and those of my two neighbors, I really struggle with finding the latest and greatest re: broadband access. I had a satellite dish, and after having to throw hot water out a second story window onto the ice covered dish this past winter in effort to regain a connection, I decided to explore other options. The iPhone has been wonderful, giving me the ability to email, blog, facebook, and twitter all in the palm of my hand. Wow, I am loving it! But there is nothing quite like a big screen and full keyboard when getting down to work. I am very visual, so that must be part of it... and the reason I lug my laptop down the street to BK. It's worth it!!!
